Soviet Forces

A number of child soldiers served in the Soviet Union's armed forces during World War II. In some cases, orphans unofficially joined the Soviet Red Army or partisans in order to avenge their fallen family. Such children were affectionately known as "son of the regiment" (Russian: сын полка). Small uniforms were tailored for these children, they were armed and performed military roles such as reconnaissance, combat and sabotage. taken from fb/#sovietwastelands
