Roza Shanina shoulders her rifle.  Sniper with 54 confirmed kills.  Killed in action, 28 January, 1945, in East Prussia (died of wounds suffered defending a wounded comrade).  She was about 2 months short of her 21st birthday.  Shanina's family certainly made their sacrifice - three of her brothers were also killed in service during the "Great Patriotic War".
