Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, managing to look serious and rakish at the same time, as a 20-year old soldier of the Russian Imperial cavalry (dragoons) in 1916. Commentary in this case would be superfluous. One thing has struck me - there is a Red Army campfire song entitled "We are the Red Cavalry". Perhaps it has something to do with the nature of the Russian Civil War but - it is interesting to note the number of senior and important generals under Stalin who had, so to speak, walloped donkeys for the Revolution back in 1917-1921. Clearly, the Red Cavalry was a force to be reckoned with ... Best regards, JR.
