These russian unit tried to cross the frozen Ilmen Lake (correcting, not the Ladoga Lake) on their motorsleds. German artillery fire made this attack a failure though.

The soviets conveyed these motorsleds as a special weapon to the British in 1942. Actually the sleds didn't prove of value and became an easy target for german counter measures.
