This  picture shows what happened to a Polish armored train attacked by a German bomber. High explosive bombs weighing 520 lb. were used in the attack; their destructive effect can be gathered from the damage to the train itself as well as from the size of the bomb crater

Polish officer 1938

Colonel Stefan Rowecki. Before the 1939 war and during the war, he served as a commanding officer of the Armoured-Motorised Warsaw Division. When the war was lost, he was in charge of the Home Army (AK). He was killed by Germans in 1944.
