Józef Beck 1939

Józef Beck is a symbol of Polish foreign diplomacy even now.He was a Polish Foreign Minister from 1932 to 1939.

The picture was taken during Józef Beck's statement in the Polish parliament (Sejm) on 5 May 1939.He was rejecting Hitler's demands.In a sense his words made that the Second World War was inevitable.In 1939 young students were fascinated by his words.There is part of his statement:

Peace is a valuable and desirable thing. Our generation, bloodied in wars, certainly deserves a period of peace. But peace, like almost all things of this world has its price, high, but rational. We in Poland do not know the concept of peace at any price. There is only one thing in the life of people, nations and states, that is priceless.

This thing is the HONOR!!!

....nowadays,his statement is put into each Polish book about history and young students are taught about it.
