"Iron Division"

In the picture you can see Polish Infatrymen from 1st Infantry Division of Legions "Józef Piłsudski"

"1 Dywizja Piechoty Legionów im. Józefa Piłsudskiego"(Polish signification)

Having the name "Józef Piłsudski" obliged the soldiers to be loyal to the end not only towards Poland ,but also towards the battlefield.

Being cammanded by gen.Wincety Kowalski it took part in campaign in 1939.

...Kałuszyn,Jagodno,Tomaszów Lubelski,Falków-battles with the part of the 1st Infantry Division of Legions "Józef Piłsudski"

It gained respect in German eys and was hailed the "Iron Division"

It was finally destroyed on 14 IX 1939,but its last three batalions survived and fought until the last days of campaign.

It was only an infantry division but the name"Józef Piłsudski" obliged to fight to the end.
