Irish Rolls-Royce Armoured Car Co. Cork 1941

FBbrummbar

This phot comes from a FB forum on WW2.The comment is of a member:Clive Moore. He states: 'The helmets did come from Vickers (in England) and were replaced by the British Mk II model from 1940 onwards. Although wikipedia have captioned the photo 1941, it's also captioned in Ian Woods book 'Ireland during the Second World War' a being taken in1940. Unfortunately it doesn't credit the original source, but I'd be inclined to think it's the earlier date. Eire operated 13 Rolls Royce armoured cars and the final ones were withdrawn from service when the supply of tyres finally ran out. However one is still in existence and kept in running condition by the Irish Defence Forces. And it's one of only two complete originals left in the world!' from my fb
