After occupation of Czechoslovakia Germans reduced the CS army (in September 1938 including about 1.450.000 soldiers) on 7.000 men only - The Government Guards of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia. During the WW2 Germans were affraid of using this "army" in fight because it wasn´t very loyal to the Germans. Finally in 1944 a part of the Guards was sent to Italy and really escaped and joit to the Italian partysans. Then a lot of these soldiers fought in the steets of Prague during the uprising (5th - 9th May 1945).
