New Zealand anti-submarine patrol, Pacific.

RNZ Navy.

RNZS "Kiwi", one of four Royal New Zealand Navy corvettes stationed at Tulagi, Solomon Islands, from December, 1942. Having been occupied briefly by the Japanese, this small island (then part of the British Solomon Islands protectorate) was recaptured by US Marines in a one-day battle on 7 August, 1942. From late-1942/early 1943, a fleet of US Navy torpedo boats operated from Tulagi against Japanese shipping in general, while the four New Zealand corvettes performed anti-submarine duties. Best regards, JR.
