Pu Yi, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty in China, was made Emperor while he was a child and had to abdicate soon. He was allowed to stay in the palace, but 1924 he had to leave the palace for good. He looked then for help and refuge from the Japanese. 1932 the Japanese made him the President of Manchukuo and he was 1934 made Emperor of Manchukuo. In reality, he didn't have much power, the Japanese had a very strong influence on all decisions. For example, the laws established by Pu Yi were in fact created by the Japanese. 1945 Pu Yi was captured by the Soviets, who kept him imprisoned up to 1950. He was then turned in to the Chinese, who kept him a prisoner up to 1959. In this time he was "reeducated". Afterwards, Pu Yi was set free and worked as a gardener and as an archivist in an institution for history at a Beijing University. He was fully rehabilitated 1964 and he died on 17th October 1967 of kidney cancer. ----------------------- Evillittlekenny
