Fighters Made in Italy for Croatia

Line up of Italian-built fighters Fiat G.50bis of Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia (Zrakoplovstvo Nezavisne Države Hrvatske-ZNDH) founded in April 1941 The Fiat’s aircraft delivered, June 1942, were nine G.50bis and a single two-seater G.50B. With the Fiat’s fighters was equipped the 16th Squadron at Banja Luka and, but with only five aircrafts, the 1ST Squadron of Zagreb for defence of the Croatian capital. But the primary role of the Croatian G.50 was the anti-guerrilla in the Balkans. In 1944 the Germans delivered to Croatian Air Force some G.50s former Italian Regia Aeronautica seized after the Italy’s Armistice of 8 Septembre 1943. A former Croatian G.50 is in stock at the Serbian Air Force Museum of Belgrade. This aircraft is the only G.50 again existing in the world. Victor Sierra
