Imperial Japanese Forces, Major Ichikawa, commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion, 215th Infantry Regiment, was the first war criminal to be tried at Rangoon, February 25, 1946. He was accused, with 13 of his men, of killing 600 inhabitants of the village of Kalagan, a few miles to the east of Moulmein, Burma.
