Operation "Post Mortem" was an after war exercise in checking the efficiency of the German radar systems, which was left undamaged in Denmark. German military personnel was held back, to show the allied how it worked, before it was dismantled.

 12 simulated bomber missions were done from the period of 25 June 1945 to 7 July 1945.

This bust of Luftwaffe Chief Herman Goering was picked off a rubbish tip at Detmold in Germany in 1947 by Edward Jackson who was serving with 1st Royal Tank Regiment at the time. 

A local German thought the damage to the face had been done when Americans had captured the camp in 1945, ‘and they were shooting at just about everything.’ 
The bust was later returned to Britain as a souvenir and handed to the Tank Museum in 1957. For a number of years it was displayed in the Museum with an erroneous caption stating the damage was made by drunken Russian soldiers.
