For the love of Vera

A 89 year old veteran,Bernard Jordan,was refused permission to go to the D-Day ceremonies by the retirement home he stays in.That was not to his liking so the old veteran made up his mind and escaped ;).He took a bus direction Ouistreham,Sword Beach,with his decoration hidden under his coat.In the evening,personnel of the home raised the alarm and started a search.Eventually the man was located amidst his co-veterans in France.The home recieved a call from another veteran saying all was well and that Bernard would return once the ceremonies over.

Dame Vera Lynn, "the Forces' Sweetheart", in a recent photo.  Dame Vera just re-entered the British album charts with "Vera Lynn: National Treasure - the Ultimate Collection".  I understand that this includes 40 tracks, including a number not previously released.  Not sure about the "Ultimate" bit.  Dame Vera - who was probably worth an army group in terms of her contribution to military and civilian morale during WW2 - released a very successful album of her own recordings only a few years back.  She is only 97.  Could a comeback tour be in the offing ... ?  Best regards, JR.
