Over the last few weeks,strong winds hindered the work of the RAF Museum team from lifting the Dornier above water.The aircraft rested on the Goodwin-sandbank in 15 meters of water.The whole expedition lasted 3 years ,studying, preparing and finally lifting.Over the next 2 years the Do17 will be restored.From records is known that the aircraft was probably shot down on 26th of august 1940 during the Battle of England.

The Dornier 17 was finally lifted from the seabed after  being shot down over the coast of Kent more than 70 years ago.
