Modern color photo of Asmara War Cemetery, Eritrea, which contains the graves of Commonwealth’s soldiers killed in the latter stages of the East African campaign against the Italians, or who died subsequently at the garrison stationed at Asmara. In particular the cemetery contains 273 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, 14 of them unidentified. There are also six war graves of other nationalities and five non-war burials. Montague of photographs from the life of George Bledsoe Mackey. Mackey was born on February 28,1923 in Waxhaw,North Carolina. He joined the Army of the United States and served in Europe with the 661st Fighting 69th Tank Destroyers. His place of rest is at Fort Custer Cemetary in Section J. He married Marie N. Pierce of Michigan and they had four children named Nena Marie Mackey,George Barrett Mackey,Charles Douglas Mackey,and Arnold Dean Mackey.
