Workers re-opening the Choet stone quarry on Guernsey a few years back got an unwelcome (indeed, potentially spectacularly fatal) surprise when they unearthed these - part of a large cache of decaying WW2 German "S" antipersonnel mines.  It emerged that the mines had been dumped in the abandoned quarry following clearance of large German minefield on the island in 1946.  Fortunately, the mines were safely removed and dumped in the sea.  How the fish felt about receiving a present of several hundred deadly shrapnel mines is not recorded ... Best regards, JR.

At Utah Beach on 6 June, 2001, two legendary figures met again for the first time since 1945.
