Forest warrior monument

"Forest warrior"(Korpisoturi) monument in Joensuu, North Karelia, Finland. The monument has over 3300 names of Karelian soldiers who were buried to their hometown hero cemeteries in Harlu, Impilahti, Korpiselkä, Pälkjärvi, Ruskeala, Salmi, Soanlahti, Suistamo, Suojärvi and Sortavala. Some of the lost Finnish lands that are part of Russia today. These and unknown amount of other soldiers, don't have memorials/tombstones of their own because after war Soviets systematically destroyed the Karelian hero cemeteries along with civilian graveyards. Tombstones and memorials were commonly removed and used as building material. The statue in the middle of the monument, has the historical coat of arms of Karelia on it and words "PUOLESTA HEIMON JA MAAN" roughly translated, "For the tribe and the country" I posted this because it's one of my favorite memorials. Sorry, i unfortunately couldn't find better picture than this.
