London Airraid shelter

While visiting London last week,we came by this sign on a street in the vicinity of Westminster.Our guide told the following:thousands of Londeners spend their nights in the tube or in public airraidshelters during the Blitz.But not everyone could have access to these when needed so a number of privat homes which had vaulted cellars were also used.Although it was privat property,people had to be allowed inside the shelters in the event of an airraid.Nicely preserved!
