Schnellboot (e-boat) 130, one of those involved in the "Operation Tiger" fiasco, in which some 1,000 Allied (mainly US) servicemen rehearsing for D-Day on the south coast of England were killed when a detachment of e-boats (more or less fortuitously) penetrated their security perimiter, has been rescued by a British enthusiast, and is now in process of restoration, it is hoped, to close-to-original condition.  Mr Kevin Wheatcroft (the enthusiast) must be mad but - by the standards of madness typical of much of our subject-matter In Here - it is a pleasant, constructive sort of madness ... Walt Disney, movie mogul and creator of the "Magic Kingdom", visits Wernher von Braun, former SS-Sturmbannfuhrer and father, successively, of the Nazi Geramn ballistic missile programme (V-2), the US ballistic missile programme, and the US space-rocket programme that produced the Saturn V rocket - the stepping-board to outer space - 1954.  Between them is a model of a V-2 ballistic missile.  Disney died, 1966; von Braun in 1977; but their legacies, for good of ill, are still very much with us. "When you wish upon a star ..."

Unveiling of a statue in honour of the memory of Georg Elser in Koenigsbronn, Baden-Wurttemberg, the town where he was raised, 11 April, 2010.  Elser was solely responsible for the near-successful attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler at the Burgerbraukeller, Munich, 8 November, 1939.  Having been held as a "special prisoner" at Sachsenhausen and Dachau, he was murdered on Gestapo orders, 9 April, 1945.  Best regards, JR.
