Air Warfare
One of the Messerschmitt Me-323 Gigant’s six engines located by a group of Italian divers on September 2012 near the cost of Sardinia. According to the preliminary reports, the remains of this huge Luftwaffe’s transport aircraft were found just 60 meters below the sea level, near the island of Maddalena in the Straits of Bonifacio. Perhaps this Me 323 was down by RAF’s Beaufighter on July 1943 while was transporting equipment from one of the German military bases in Sardinia, likely Olbia-Venafiorita, to a Tuscany’s airfield.
