Hürtgen-Forest/Germany, april 2000. During the work of an explosive ordnance disposal unit the remains (missing the head) of G.I. Robert Cahow from Wisconsin were found in a submerged foxhole, around him live infantry- and mortar-ammo he must have carried when he was hit. 28-year-old Robert was reported MIA on December 13th 1944, he was member of k-company, 311th regiment of the 78th US-infantry-division that suffered bitter losses in this area. today by-passers and visitors traditionally place a stone at this very spot. In the Hürtgenforest-Area 190 american soldiers are still missing.
