The Battles of Khalkhin Gol were the engagements of the undeclared Soviet–Japanese border conflicts fought among the Soviet Union, Mongolia, Japan and Manchukuo in 1939. The conflict was named after the river (Khalkhin Gol), which passes through the battlefield.
