The mechanics of 279th Squadriglia carry on, using modest and rough tools, the change of the tail of the 279-1. Gadouras Airport, or Aeroporto di Gadurrà, during the war indicated by the Italian Commands as Aeroporto Militare 806 (Military Airport 806), was also known in English as Kalathos Airfield. The work carrying on

The tail reassembling of the S.79 aircraft 279-1, still without the elevator, is nearly finished. The fin has the same color of the fuselage of the plane, sign which is a part of the same 279-1, but the rudder has a different color. It’s clearly a spare part came from another aircraft perhaps cannibalized. Notice also the many patch covering shell’s holes. Victor Sierra
