Ace of Clubs

Altervista

Upper view of an Italian fighter Macchi MC.202 “Folgore” of 153rd Gruppo "Asso di Bastoni" ("Ace of Clubs"). Note the Gruppo’s number on Roman numeral (CLIII) utilized instead of Squadriglia’s number on Arabic numeral, practice adopted by some Regia Aeronautica’s units around 1943. Also the fuselage’s white strip is non-standard. The aircraft of this photo is a MC.202 Tropicalized, still with anti-sand filter on the left of engine cowling. Also the aircraft finish is still the North African camouflage preserved again from fighters switched in Homeland for the last Italy’s defence. Victor Sierra
