An Italian CV 3/33 light tank in Ethiopia. This version was armed with a single machine gun and had a crew of two. The tank shown here has the name 'Adua' on the side, probably as a call for vengeance for the catastrophic Italian defeat by the Ethiopians at Adwa in 1896.

Over the clouds

Italian soldiers of the motorised 30th Infantry Division 'Sabauda' which formed part of the 1st Army Corps on the northern front. This Corps, under Gen. Santini, was on the extreme left flank of the Italian line and fought its way from Adigrat on the Eritrean frontier to Halie Selassie's headquarters at Dese.
