War to Germany

Brindisi, 13 October 1943. The chief of Italian Government, Marshal Pietro Badoglio, read the text of the declaration of war to the Germany by the Kingdom of Italy. At his side the American General Maxwell Taylor. In reality the hostilities between Germans and Italians were already commenced at the time of announcement, 8 September 1943, of armistice between the Italy and the Allies. And from this moment the Italy was cracked in two parties: one under the Germans and the other under the Allies. After the escape from Rome to Southern Italy of the King and the Government on the night of 8 September 1943, Brindisi was the first capital of the King of Italy (the “Kingdom of South”). From February to August 1944 the capital was Salerno before of the return at Rome of the Government. Victor Sierra
