The emblem of  IInd Squadriglia, the "Vespa Arrabbiata" ("Wasp enraged"), of 1st Gruppo Caccia of Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana (ANR), the air force of Fascist Repubblica Sociale Italiana, on the nose of a MC.205 "Veltro". The 1st Gruppo Caccia was formed by about twenty volounteer fighter pilots former Regia Aeronautica at the beginning of October 1943 in Piedmont, before on airport of Torino-Mirafiori, afterwards, with other pilots, on Lagnasco Airfield, near Cuneo, commanded by the maggiore Luigi Borgogno. Wasp enraged

On one occasion one of most famous fighter pilots of the RAF in WW2, the Group Captain Wilfrid George Gerald Duncan-Smith DSO DFC, stated: "In general the standard of flying of the Italian pilots was very high indeed, and in encounters with Macchi 205s particularly we were up against aircraft that could turn and dog-fight with our Spitfires extremely well". This fine shot hightlight many details of the MC.205 "Veltro" like the compact cowling of the Daimler-Benz DB 605 1,100 kW (1,475 hp) liquid-cooled supercharged inverted V-12 engine produced in Italy by Fiat as the RA.1050 R.C.58 Tifone, and the two  20 mm Mauser MG 151 cannon in the wing standard from 
Serie III (two 12,7+7,7 mm on Serie I with some planes with 12,7+20mm, no Serie II built). Victor Sierra
