Hungarian Forces
General Veress was an important Hungarian general during WW2. Born in the Szekely-Land of Erdely (Transylvania), he served on the Don front for a while heading a tank division, led an army corps at Kolozsvar (Cluj), and served as the commander as the new Hungarian Second Army at the major battle of Torda (Turda) in 1944. He was a confidant of Regent and was arrested by the Germans on October 15, 1944, when Horthy attempted to take Hungary out of the war.
