Sometimes during 1941-1942, German and Hungarian soldiers spend free time together somewhere behind the front, perhaps listening to music. Hopefully, the dour Magyar harmonica player was capable of squeezing out a few cheerful songs.

A mild form of  disciplinary punishment was a shaven head, as in the case of the three soldiers shown in the photo, segregated into an improvised field stockade. For better or for worse, harsh physical punishment, including summary execution, was common enough in the Hungarian army, unlike among the Allied forces.
