The tank's registration plate number is: 2H-219. In the picture you can see a hungarian bulit Turán II medium tank. The tank was in Katalinpuszta on a shooting range where the crew configured the tank's sights in 1943.

Hungary's medium tank 41M Turan II the second generation of the Turan tank. It hadn't got a precise gun but with a well-trained crew the Turan II could defeat easily a T-34/85 tank.

Photo of my uncle (actually my mother's cousin) taken in 1942.  Can anyone tell me his rank from the collar insignia?  My understanding is that he served primarily in Hungary during the war.  He had wished to conintue a career in the military but would not do so under the communists after their takeover.  He did participate in the 1956 Revolution and, after beign arrested, spent about four years in prison.
