Defiant under attack. - A young English boy places the Union Jack atop the ruins of his destroyed home following a German air raid  during the Blitz. 
  On September 7, 1940, the German Luftwaffe launched a campaign of sustained strategic aerial assaults throughout the United Kingdom. London was bombed 57 consecutive nights.

Wren dispatch riders receiving instruction for their next journey. Some of the Wren riders are well known competition riders.
During WWII., the British Royal Navy created an all female corps whose members were nicknamed the Wrens. One of their most notable duties was as dispatch riders to take and bring messages for both the Admiralty and the Royal Navy. This turned out to be a tough assignment as German bombs made travel difficult...
