Sir Oswald Mosley addresses a rally of his Blackshirt legions. In spite of its capacity for troublemaking, the Blackshirt movement continued, under Great Britain's liberal legal system, to prosper (albeit under a range of names) right up to the beginning of the war. This rally took place at Earl's Court, London, in July, 1939. On the war's outbreak, the leaders of the movement - including the Mosleys - were detained. However, a significant number of former Blackshirts, along with a number of upper class Nazi fellow-travelers, attempted to communicate with Germany and supply confidential information. The British intelligence services were largely successful in neutralizing their efforts, with little fuss. Best regards, JR.
