Canadian RAF fighter pilot John A Milne and British Army Nurse Nan Jones. Battle of Britain pilot Milne was unlucky to be shot down by an "Emil" near Dorking. He was seriously injured, and spent several months in a plaster cast. However, the event may not have been so unlucky after all. During his stay in Dorking hospital, he met Nan, and the rest - in a quiet sort of way - was history. They went on to marry, and moved to Canada after the war, where they enjoyed a long and happy partnership and raised their family. Best regards, JR.
