Wire-haired fox terrier "Beauty", photographed with her human, PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) Superintendent Bill Barnet, who was credited with rescuing 63 animals from the ruins of the London Blitz, 1940-'41, in recognition of which she was awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal - the "Animals' Victoria Cross". The monument to memory built in the former school of Ugo Pepe, a young fascist militant killed by communists in april 1922. After the war, all this kind of monuments, spread all over Italy, were totally removed (like in Germany I guess). DVX
