The ancient Basilica of San Lorenzo fuori le Mura (Papal Basilica of Saint Lawrence outside the Walls), Early Christian age (IV Century after Christ), actual aspect largely XIII Century, one of the Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome, destroyed by the shocking American Rome’s bombardment, 19 July 1943. After the war the Basilica was completely rebuilt with the original materials, however leaving the columns with the chips of the bombs fragments as you can from this photo, but the large façade’s frescos was fatally lost.
