According to "Life" magazine, 1941, this is the proper way to administer a bromide to a cat during an air raid.  As a long-time, experienced cat owner (sorry - servant of cats), I am inclined to think that this would be a very good way to lose one's fingers during an air raid; and I am not thinking about the explosions ...
