High fashion for air travel

Smart and practical dress for the ladies air travelling: the proposal of some Italian woman-fashion magazines late Thirties. But at this time in the Fascist Italy very few peoples can afford a luxury like the air travels, very expensive for the majority of the country. For example: 450 lire for a one-way Rome-Tirana, but 4,500 lire for the Rome-Asmara when the really Italian dream is a monthly pay of 1.000 lire (like on a famous song of this years): few dozen or at most few hundreds of lire is the pay for a work’s monthly. And also the dress as those of the picture is an impossible dream for the majority of the Italian women. Interesting in this photo, likely taken at Milan, Linate Airport, is the plane in background: the ALI-Avio Linee Italiane’s I-EROS, the only Douglas DC-2 employed by Italian airlines. Victor Sierra
