Cerignola, year 1944

The town of Cerignola, Italy, in a color photo taken on 1944. Note, down, an American military truck. In background the Cathedral, a well known landmark for all USAAF’s 15th Air Force crews. Indeed Cerignola, near Foggia, Puglia, is about 12 km North from Torretta wich, during the Italy’s Allied occupation, like Torretta Airfield, Foggia Airfield Complex, was the base of 15th Air Force bomber units, in particular the 461st Bombardment Group (H) equipped with heavy bombers Consolidated B-24 Liberators.
