Buckingham Palace bombed.

King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother) inspect bomb damaged suffered by Buckingham Palace, London, during the "Blitz" (German night bombing campaign), late 1940. The Queen was quoted as remarking, "At least I can now look the East End in the eye" - the East End of London, a port and commercial area at the time, had suffered particularly heavily in the "Blitz". Best regards, JR.
