Soldiers of the 3. Fallschrim-Jäger-Division in a peaceful resting moment in Saint-Lô. In June 1944 the Division joined to the 352. Infanterie-Division in the defence battles of Saint-Lô. During the battle, the well trained, and equipped Fallschirmjägers caused heavy losses with their Panzerfaust 30s, and Panzerschrecks on the tank units of the U.S. 29th Infantry Division. Saint-Lô, the capital of the department of Manche, was captured by Task Force C of the U.S. 29th Infantry Division on July 18th, 1944. The city was an important strategic objective, and was heavily damaged during the Battle of Normandy. (By Bazooka Joe)
