U-180 meets I-29

Indian Ocean, april 1943. Submarines swapped passengers. U-180 (type IXD1) exchanged two Indians (Subhash Chandra Bose and his Adjutant, Abid Hasan) for two Japanese Navy officers, both shipbuilding officers, Captain Emi and Captain Tomonaga, who were to study U-boat building techniques upon arrival in Germany. Also received two tonnes of gold as payment from Japan for weapons technology.
