German Leadership
Hulton/Getty.
Hitler, then a little-known leader of a very minor political party/movement, delivers an oration in snowy Munich, 1923. The backing of a squad of Stormtroopers was undoubtedly needed - "street politics" already had a firm grip in Germany, and opposing arguments were often answered with fists (clubs, broken bottles, etc.). General Hans von Seeckt, who first met Hitler at about this time, remarked, "I share his goals, but not his path.". Best regards, JR.
