  The Karabiner 98k "Mauser", adopted in the mid-1930s, became the most common infantry rifle in service in the German Army during World War II. as their standard issue rifle.

A statue on the coast of France, dedicated to the famous WW1 French aviator, Georges Guynemer, is inspected by German occupiers.  This statue was taken down by the army and put in storage.
