This is only a random photo we briefly look upon before we move on, but the photo entails more than we imagine.

The miserable guy on the photo; who was is? What happened to his family back in Germany? Did his sweetheart survive the war, and at what cost? We can only speculate on the famine and uncertainty his family had to live through after the war, or the horrors his sweetheart endured if she happened to live in the Soviet zone.

War is tragedy and nothing but tragedy. It's sickening.
