Yet another German cemetery (Soviet Union).
Photo is unmarked as to date & caption. Say what you will about the Germans but when they had the time they honored their fallen with dignity and respect. As we know as soon as the Soviets over-ran a German cemetery it was immediately desecrated and all identifying features of the dead were scattered and/or stolen. Stalin was convinced that the Germans after the war would have no memorials for Germans to come & mourn their dead.
I guess it's hard to blame the Soviets for this attitude.

German Cemetery

A group of soldiers pose for the camera in front of a Pz.Kpfw.ll. Ausf.F during the first snow falls m Russ1a. They are all wearing gas mask canisters and greatcoats, except for the Panzer crewman standing at the end. As the artic temperatures dropped and the weather worsened the Panzer divisions would soon grind to a halt in the snow.
