Rear units of a Panzer division pull into the captured town of Vitebsk in July 1941. Russian prisoners can be seen being marched off to their fate. Thousands of prisoners were taken in and around Vitebsk. Just six days later a massive encirclement around Smolensk saw the capture of some 300,000 Red Army troops.

As the artic temperatures dropped and the weather worsened the Panzer divisions would soon grind to a halt in the snow.
