Australian War Memorial

The German bomber Heinkel He 111 landed for unknown reasons (mistake?) at Celone Airfield, or Foggia Satellite 1, Apulia, Southern Italy, late 1943, after many circuits over the airfield. The plane was captured with his crew and, according the Australian War Memorial, was transferred to the USA for experimental purposes. Notice in background many British planes (AWM MEC1793).
