Bloody tourists ...

LSSAH soldiers seeing the sights of Paris - in this case, of the Chateau de Versailles. The ornate building behind them to the right is Louis XIV's ornate Baroque Chapelle Royale. To its left is the Neo-Classical facade attached to the end of the North Wing of the Palace at some time in the course of its various remodellings during the 18th century. Somewhat ironically for the immediate circumstances, the entablature of the facade is inscribed with the words "A Tous les Gloires de la France". Well, I suppose that "les gloires de la France" were not to be so easily snuffed out ... Vive la France ! JR.
